Sanctification

heartbreak's heritage in time
cold and furious honor
a little girl learns to tithe
to earn a pleased father

revelations lost
to hours passing by
the moon shall count the cost
a brain is washed at night

back-burner books
make for kind decor
but what of a mind a heart
that begs that pleads for more

red lights and strangers holding doors
illuminating thresholds
a spirit that is poor
a broken reed not but one that's bruised tenfold
refined above the fire from which holiness is kindled
